For me, being an all-time great is a combination of peak and longevity with the Jays. While JD only has 3 seasons here so far, he has performed at a tremendously high level during that time. I'd lean toward calling him one, but wouldn't argue with those who feel his tenure has been too short.

Fwiw, Roger Clemens sprang to mind as another player in a similar situation, albeit in retrospect, there's the PED angle to consider too.

I’m not if I would call him an all time great yet, for me if he signs a deal here that makes him an all time great becuase then he will have been here for let’s say 10 years (4+6 year deal) and he puts up the numbers he has tell year 6-7 and then declines. That to me makes him a top 5 jay ever. But that’s just my opinion on it, everyone has a different one when I comes to ranking players. If he doesn’t sign a deal I think he’s a borderline top 10.

But on the other hand I could not agree more, SIGN THE MAN! I mean I would pay 30 for 5-6 (depending on if he signs it this offseason or as a free agent in the 18 offseason). He is the face of the jays, he has been for the past 3 years.
