The Jays are a contender and Donaldson has already told the media and the GM ,he wants to stay in Toronto for the rest of his career. The Jays were contenders going in to this year ,but long injuries to Tulowitzki, Travis, Martin ,their Ace Aaron Sanchez and Donaldson killed their season. Not to mention ,Bautistas horrible year. And their future is very bright with young talent around the bend in about 2019 or 2020 with Vlad Guerrero Jr.,No Bichette and others . So this team is only gonna get better.

I wonder how many teams will actually look like viable fits roster- and budget-wise for Machado or JD if either or both make it to the open market. NYY seem obvious, but how many others?

There's also the matter of whether one of them will effectively remove themselves from the picture by signing Moustakas this off-season.
