Thank you for the wonderful article. I've been a Rockies fan since I moved back to CO in 1997. Todd Helton and Tulo have been my favorite players, and I have followed Tulo in Toronto.

I remember those catches and hits, and my heart breaks that he isn't the old TULO.

I couldn't get through this without shedding a few tears. What is good writing if it doesn't move someone? I've been converted to a Jays' fan the last 3-4 years with the same players you've mentioned (although I wish you would've included Pillar). Each summer I take a trip from Ohio to see a 3-4 game set of contests. And, it's always worth my while. I fear the current management is not nearly as adept as the former, but I'll continue to hope they make good decisions and the Jays' franchise will keep up with the Yankees and Red Sox.

Sorry - really sad to affect such a beautiful article with this nonsense. Baseball is played all over the world, and it's just played differently. The US and Canada do not have a monopoly on what constitutes respect for "the game." The most fun I've ever had at a game where I had no rooting interest was a Dominican League game. It was just better. The players enjoyed it, and so did the fans. I'm fine (and I mean completely and totally fine) with you enjoying the game in exactly the way you want. But in the spirit of this wonderful article, let me ask you to think about others who want the same right: the right to enjoy the game the way they want, and the way they learned to play. Also, playing the game for 30 years doesn't really distinguish you - millions have, and I'm going on 35. Stroman likely 20, Marwin over 20 and David Price has probably been playing for more than 25 years. Talking about "playing the game" also is a way of saying that those who play have more of a claim to how the game should be played than those that just watch. I'd ask you to reconsider whether that makes sense. Do you think your view should have more weight than the 16 year old sitting next to you at the game that only played for three years, but fell in love with the 2015 Blue Jays? Anyway - Rachael - great article again. You really add something to the Blue Jays blogging world.

I 2nd that... Great title, too.

As someone who's played the game for coming up on 30 years, I know what it can do & what it can mean to people, & my self... It's a beautiful passion- the love for the game.

It irks me to see players like Marwin Gonzalez bat flip on a single, Marcus Stroman dance off the field after K'ing Altuve (while losing 3-2 nonetheless), & the new wave of players disrespect the game. All the while, David Price & co. rake in the multi-millions every year wihtout he slightest hint of gratitude. These things make being a baseball fan irrational & irritating,

otherwise, long live baseball- long live the game I love.
