Great read - Donaldson write-up especially thoughtful. Other than relievers and the recent White Sox (who had a terrible minor league system and no avenue to supplement their stars), do you know of any trades of established high-level SPs or position players with significant control (3+ years) by a rebuilding team? The discussion about "selling" seems a bit silly, since there's no real precedent for trading the Travises and the Sanchezes, no one would argue with trading the upcoming free agents, so we're really talking about Osuna, Donaldson and maybe Smoak, right? And your argument why Donaldson won't be traded is very compelling (and he's also an expensive version of McCutcheon from last year - who knows when good Donaldson will come back?). So it all seems like much ado about nothing given the particular context of this team.
