While the team may not be high on Leblebijian, I do believe I remember reading somewhere about a change in approach that might justify a change in talent levels. I'd say it's clear that Goins and Barney have proven they "can't" get the job done, and "maybe" is a clear improvement. I am generally less risk averse with other people's money, though.

I find it strange that one can produce reams of copy about the Jays' second base "problem" without ever mentioning defence. If middle infielders are plus defenders you can give up a little with the bat. That hasn't changed in a hundred years, though everyone now worships at the alter of Josh Donaldson, who calls a ground ball base hit a "mistake". In case anyone mourning the absence of Devon Travis' bat in the lineup, and I get that, hasn't noticed, he has a tendency to choke regularly in the field at crucial moments. The problem with chasing hitting stats all the time is that sometimes you forget to watch the game that's right in front of you. Next topic for discussion: should we analyze Tulo's reduced offensive production to death without noticing that he's clearly a step slower in the field, and very reluctant to get his uniform dirty?

"the Blue Jays and their talent evaluators don’t seem to believe Leblebijian would be able to top them at the big league level. The obvious move for months now has been to call up Leblebijian and give him playing time at second base. Clearly, the Blue Jays would have made that move already if they believed it to be the right one."

I too am wondering why leblebijian hasn't been called up. Very well could be a decision made at the trade deadline since bargo have contracts. All interviews and comments from blue jays brass point to the organization being high on leblebijian. Has this been communicated from the bluejays staff or simply speculation? No references were provided other than Elie's article supporting the move.

I wonder if Pearce might get some time at 2B. He's a clear downgrade with the glove, but that didn't stop the Jays from using Coghlan there.
