The worst reason to do something a certain way is "because we've always done it that way". I respect the game of baseball and it's traditions, but for Goose Gossage to say what he did about Jose and Bryce and others shows a complete lack of leadership, courage and imagination. Players who are demonstrative with their enthusiasm for the game they dedicate their lives to, are not being disrespectful. Celebrations are part or sports. Should we encourage kids to drink like Babe and go cleats-up like Cobb and bet like Rose in the name of old-time baseball? Hey Goose, let's get rid of batting helmets and go back to flannel uniforms while we're at it.
The real innovative leaders in the game aren't just the new guys like Theo and JoeyBats and BHarp, but also guys like Cliff Floyd who have been around for many years and who HAVE played the game and are creating ways to make it safer and better.
If you have something intelligent to contribute, we welcome it. But if all you want is to stir it up in a pathetic attempt to become relevant again, keep your antiquated opinions to yourself and your buddies.

I really don't know where the Goose's rage came from. It was like he wanted to be the Donald Trump of baseball. Saw an opportunity to get himself a little attention and just started yelling as loud as he could with out thinking any of it through.
And I get that the guy is a Hall of Famer, but why does that give him the right to speak for Latin ballplayers. Where does he get the right? And have we heard from any saying "You know what Goose is right, we are embarrassed by Jose."
